Award-wining wines, movie memorabilia and swimming pools make the Francis Ford Coppola Winery our kind of wine-tasting destination.
We've seen the Kardashians sip wine in its rolling hills and now we're dreaming of spending time in Sonoma, wine-tasting while surrounded by gorgeous scenery. California's wine region is dotted with wineries but the one that is having us California dreaming is the Francis Ford Coppola Winery. Owned by the celebrated director, the winery is a spectacular venue where visitors can discover its wines as well as walk through its makeshift museum with memorabilia from the Hollywood director's movies including Apocalypse Now, as well as memorabilia from his equally-talented daughter, Sofia and her popular movies including Marie Antoinette.
The winery produces over forty wines, making it a wonderful destination for anyone who loves the pleasure of discovering new wines. And with tastings organised in the restaurant and bar, guests can sample the award-winning wines while enjoying international cuisine at Rustic, the winery's restaurant overlooking Alexander Valley. The menu here features family-style cooking with traditional Italian dishes made with organic herbs and produce sourced from the property's garden.
For guests visiting during the warmer months, the property's two swimming pools are definitely a refreshing drawing card. Surrounded by chaise lounge chairs, the pools are an invitation to a wonderful day spent under the Californian sun with sweeping views of neighbouring vineyards.
This is the winery to visit if you love your wine but also have an appreciation for cult movies, and leisure days spent by a pool.
