It's very rare that a vegetarian restaurant in Paris steals any show whether it be with its delicious offerings or with spectacular views, but Galeries Lafayette's rooftop restaurant Créatures proves to be the exception to the rule.
Créatures, Galerie Lafayette department store's seasonal rooftop restaurant is back for its third year and it is proving once again that it is, as the French like to say, "ze place to be." Chef Julien Sebbag impresses with his sharing plate menu with the all-vegetarian menu offering delightful options to diners, serving colourful dishes that include a refreshing cucumber salad served on a bed of miso sauce and nut paste, grilled eggplant drizzled with creamy tahini sauce and topped with cherry tomatoes, and focaccia bread covered in thinly sliced zucchini, black Greek olives and covered in creamy stracciatella cheese. For vegetarians this is one rare spot in the city where each dish is treated to different herbs and spices, bringing each ingredient to life, something that has proven difficult with many chefs in Paris, a city known for its culinary creations that more often than not include meat. The rooftop rendezvous also serves up a spectacular view of the French capital, giving diners a 360º view of the city, sprinkling the backdrop of the restaurant with Paris's famous landmarks from the Eiffel Tower to the Sacré-Coeur, a rare sighting that isn't usually reserved for veggie restaurants. This is a great spot for summer drinks and dinner where vegetarian cuisine steals the spotlight and even seduces meat-loving diners, proving vegetables can be just as appetising as a steak et frites.
