From sampling vegan desserts to meeting Santa, Melbourne is offering up fun things to do this month.
The Vegan Market is taking over Seaworks on Sunday November 17 for a day of celebrating cruelty-free makers and designers. The festival-style market is your chance to discover vegan businesses and labels from delicious plant-based food and wines to faux-leather bag designs from Texcoco Collective.
They're a lot of people's beloved pets, but cats and dogs have also played starring roles in artwork that has crossed cultures and periods. The NGV is hosting Cats & Dogs, an art exhibition showcasing cats and dogs scattered through history in art, from Jeff Koons's Bubble Dog to Pierre Bonnard's Siesta painting dating back to 1900. The exhibition ends with an interactive invitation to upload your own pet's photo, which is then projected on the walls of the NGV in the Pet Portrait Gallery, letting you declare that you have had your photo exhibited at the NGV!
This November vegan restaurant Lona Misa is celebrating with a sweet collaboration courtesy of popular pastry shop Tarts Anon. Throughout the month you can indulge in a limited edition Guava Tart, which is inspired by the traditional Brazilian dessert Bolo de Rolo, made with layers of sweet guava and tangy vegan cream that will end your vegan feast on a sweet note. The vegan dessert will be available as part of Lona Misa's four-course Greatest Hits menu, a delightful dining experience where you can enjoy the restaurant's most popular dishes including oyster mushroom ceviche and Peruvian potato and pumpkin salad.
Santa has arrived in shopping centres around the city including all Westfield destinations. Take your children in to meet Santa and get their photos taken with the jolly man early and start on your Christmas shopping instead of leaving everything until the week leading up to Christmas.
