The MGallery Collection Jules César hotel in Arles is hosting a stunning photo exhibition under its vaulted ceilings in the South of France.
If you're looking for a reason to sleep under the vaulted ceilings of the Jules César hotel in Arles, and you are an appreciator of the arts, then the Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles is the perfect excuse to do so.
Known for inspiring the paintings of Van Gogh, Arles is a city of art and history, and is listed as a World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Every year the city hosts Rencontres de la Photographie, an annual summer photography festival that showcases works that are rarely seen by the public.
Celebrating the festival, the MGallery Collection hotel, Jules César, will be showcasing Empreintes de l'Ile Rouge until the 3rd of November. The stunning exhibition highlights the talented work of women in Madagascar who make the Antemoro paper, a flower-embedded paper traditionally used to record secret knowledge using sorabe.
The artwork will be exhibited throughout the hotel and will be available to purchase, with all proceeds going to an association to build a school in Madagascar allowing 80 children to attend school for the first time.
A former monastery constructed in 1664, the Jules César hotel was restored and renovated by iconic French fashion designer Christian Lacroix, a native of Arles. The hotel boasts rooms inspired in design by the 18th century, and a spa with nods to the city's Roman ruins, offering a serene view overlooking the cloisters.
