Paris museum Jeu de Paume is paying tribute to photographer Frank Horvat in a fashionable retrospective celebrating the first fifteen years of his career.
Renowned for his fashion photography, Frank Horvat captured the elegance and romance of the 50s by way of fashion. His career spanned seven decades, and in celebration of the first fifteen years of his career, the Jeu de Paume museum in Paris will be hosting Frank Horvat. Paris, the World, Fashion. The retrospective, showing until the 17th of September, brings together 170 photographs taken between 1950 and 1965, a time marked by the rise of ready-to-wear and the evolution of women’s social status. Some of the stunning imageries on show include an intimate photograph of Coco Chanel hidden in the shadows, backstage, watching one of her shows in Paris, and a model wearing a couture hat by fashion house Givenchy as captured by Horvat for French fashion magazine, Le Jardin des Modes.
