Rekospective: The Art of Reko Rennie

Australian artist Reko Rennie explores his Aboriginal identity through contemporary art that is currently being showcased at the NGV. Rekospective: The Art of Reko Rennie is the artist's largest presentation of work with more than 100 works exhibited, charting Rennie's more than two-decade long career. Through street art he portrays specific moments in history and culture with traditional Kamilaroi diamond-shaped designs appearing throughout the show along with his distinctive Original Aboriginal camouflage designs. With influences by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rennie's street art demonstrates that Aboriginal art extends beyond dot painting with the exhibition walking you through the artist's evolution from his earliest paintings to new works using marble and light. The exhibition is free and is held at the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia in Fed Square.
