A new digital show celebrates the talent and iconic costumes of Australian Dame Joan Sutherland.
Melburnians maybe in lockdown but it does not mean Melbourne's cultural spirit is hiding away, with the Arts Centre Melbourne in collaboration with the Australian Arts Collection putting together the digital exhibition, Grand. The showcase celebrates Dame Joan Sutherland, one of the world's most famous opera sopranos, and her iconic wardrobe that she wore on the world stage. Opera Australia donated the pieces featured in Grand and include 30 costumes, gowns, jewellery and wigs that the Australian artist wore throughout her celebrated career. Thanks to 3D scanning bringing the pieces to life, you can admire the intricate details of each design and read about the history behind each creation. The digital show brilliantly brings this icon to your screens, to be experienced by Melburnians from the comfort of their homes, and shared with the rest of Australia and the world.
